1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexafluoro-2-propanol, Reagent, is the organic compound that is commonly abbreviated as HFIP and is a fluorinated alcohol that is used as a solvent and synthetic intermediate. It’s a colorless, volatile liquid that has a characteristic strong, pungent odor. It is mainly used for solubilizing a rangeof polymers as well as being the precursor and chief metabolite of the inhalation anesthetic sevoflurane. Its reagent grade means this is the highest quality commercially available for this chemical and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material.
