1,2-Dimethoxyethane, R1-EAgent is also known as glyme, monoglyme, dimethyl glycol, ethylene glycol dimethyl ether, dimethyl cellosolve and DME. Dimethoxyethane is a cl1-EAr, colorless, aprotic liquid ether. It is commonly used as a solvent in batteries and in organometallic r1-EAction chemistry since it is higher boiling than diethyl ether and THF. It is also miscible with water. The R1-EAgent grade denotes that this chemical is the highest quality commercially available and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material.
