Acetic Anhydride, Reagent, ACS, or ethanoic anhydride as it is otherwise known is a colorless, strong smelling liquid chemical compound that is the simplest isolatable acid anhydride and commonly used as a reagent for organic synthesis. Mainly used for acetylations, its main use is for the conversion of cellulose to cellulose acetate and in the synthesis of aspirin.
