Betaine, Monohydrate is an organic compound that occurs in plants. It is used as a moisturizer and stabilizer in skin care formulations and incr1-EAses the water solubility of active compounds. In surfactant solutions, betaine acts as a foam modifier and incr1-EAses the foam volume and stability and improves the after-feel of conditioners. Betaine is also a useful ingredient in dental products, thanks to its capability of reducing the irritancy of surfactants and for its moisturizing effects on mucous membranes.
