Calcium Chloride, Anhydrous, Flakes / Granules, Technical is usually a solid white powder with an extremely salty taste. It is highly hygroscopic and must be kept in tightly sealed, air tight containers. Calcium chloride has many uses. Its main use is as a desiccant and deicer. However, calcium chloride also is used as a food additive to add a salty flavor without increasing sodium content, used in medicine to treat hydrofluoric burns, as a sterilization agent for male animals, and as a source for calcium ions.
