Description
Dextran, 75,000, Powder is a complex branched glucan that is synthesized by certain lactic acid bacteria from sucrose. Commonly used in microsurgery to decr1-EAse the risk of vascular thrombosis, these agents are also used as effective osmotic agents and can tr1-EAt hypovolemia. In the laboratory, Dextran is used to apply osmotic pressure to biological molecules and can, when applied with a fluorescent molecule, be used to cr1-EAte concentration gradients of diffusible molecules.
