Description
Glycerol, GR ACS, also known as glycerin, and is an odorless, viscous and colorless liquid sugar alcohol (polyol). Glycerin has three hydroxyl groups that allow its solubility in water and give it its hygroscopic nature. It is used in gel formation for polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and in density modification of gel electrophoresis samples. The GR brand is an EMD Chemical trademark and indicates this chemical reagent is suitable for use in analytical chemistry and that the product meets or exceeds American Chemical Society (ACS) requirements.
