Description
Hexanes, 98.5 Percent, GR ACS is an unbranched isomer and compound made up of 6 carbon atoms that comes in the form of a colorless liquid. It is used as non-polar solvent due to its cheap, largely unreactive, and relatively safe nature it can be found in specialized glue, as a degreasing agent and to extract cooking oil from seeds. It is used in the Laboratory to remove or extract oil and grease contaminant from soil and water sample for analysis. Because it cannot easily be deprotonated it is often used for reactions that involve very strong base. The GR is an EMD trademark and indicates this chemical reagent is suitable for use in analytical chemistry and that the product meets or exceeds American Chemical Society (ACS) requirements.
