Description
Hydrocortisone, Micronized, USP, otherwise known as Cortisol, is a glucocorticoid, a steroid hormone. Secreted in the adrenal cortex its function is to incr1-EAse blood sugar through a process called gluconeogenesis. It suppresses the immune system and helps in the metabolism of protein, fat and carbohydrate. Recr1-EAted synthetically, it has been used to tr1-EAt a variety of dis1-EAses. It can be administered by injection or orally and is used as an immunosuppressant to help tr1-EAt severe allergic r1-EActions. It can be administered locally and topically to help tr1-EAt allergies such as eczema, psoriasis and other skin conditions.
