Its oxidizing properties are so strong that it is considered a highly reactive oxygen species. Due to it being a weak acid, it can form thermally unstable hydroperoxides. One of its biggest uses is in the treatment of drinking water, removing odors, organic materials and the amount of Hydrogen sulfides and Iron.
