Iron Metal, Reduced, Powder, Reagent is a chemical element that has for a symbol Fe and the atomic number 26. Iron, in a powdered form is combined with and acidic solvent and used in the Bechamp reduction, to reduce nitrobenzene to aniline. It is also used in water purification and in the sewage treatment process, as a coloring agent in paint, an additive in animal feed as well as an etchant for copper. Its reagent grade means this is the highest quality commercially available for this chemical and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material.
