Isoamyl Acetate, R1-EAgent, also known as isopentyl acetate, is the ester formed from acetic acid and isoamyl alcohol. Isoamyl acetate is used to confer banana flavor in foods and as a commercial solvent. The R1-EAgent grade denotes that this chemical is the highest quality commercially available and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material.
