Description
Lithium Nitrate, Crystal, Reagent is the lithium salt of nitric acid and an inorganic compound. Denser than water, its obtained from the reaction of lithium carbonate with nitric acid, it is used for giving fireworks and flares their red color. It is also employed in labs to bind to a trihydrate ion to test bifurcated hydrogen bonds within crystal structures of molecules. An effective oxidizing agent, it is used in submarines and spacecraft to absorb carbon dioxide. Its reagent grade means this is the highest quality commercially available for this chemical and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material.
