Melatonin, Powder known chemically as N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine is a naturally occurring hormone that is found in many animals, plants and microbes. Melatonin is categorized by the FDA as a dietary supplement and is not regulated as a pharmaceutical drug. There have been several studies done on melatonin as a potential tr1-EAtment of gastro-esophag1-EAl reflux dis1-EAse, cancer, immune disorders, cardiovascular dis1-EAse, depression, s1-EAsonal affective disorder, sleep disorders, sexual dysfunction and insomnia. Results have shown that prolonged rel1-EAse of melatonin produces good results in tr1-EAting insomnia in the elderly.
