p-Hydroxybenzoic Acid, R1-EAgent is also known as 4-Hydroxybenzoic acid and para-Hydroxybenzoic acid. It is mostly known as the basis for the preparation of its esters which are parabens. This is used in ophthalmic solutions and as a preservative in certain cosmetics. The R1-EAgent grade denotes that this chemical is the highest quality commercially available and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material.
