Description
Potassium Acetate, Crystal, R1-EAgent, ACS is used in molecular biology to precipitate dodecyl sulfate (DS) and DS-bound proteins, allowing the removal of proteins from DNA. It is also used as a salt for the ethanol precipitation of DNA. Potassium acetate is also used in mixtures applied for tissue preservation, fixation, and mummification. As an ACS grade quality r1-EAgent, its chemical specifications are the de facto standards for chemicals used in many high-purity applications and typically designate the highest quality chemical available for laboratory use.
