Potassium Iodide, Crystal, Reagent, ACS, is reffered to by the chemical formula KI and is an inorganic compound. Naturally occuring in Kelp, this white salt is one of the most significant iodide compounds. Produced by treating KOH with iodine, this compound has a variety of uses. Used as a component in film photography before the discovery of silver iodide, it is also used in the electrolyte of dye sensitized solar cells. KI is also used as an emergency blockade of radio-iodine, a common form of radiation poisoning. As an ACS grade Reagent, Spectrum Chemical manufactured Potassium Iodide is used as the quality standard against which other substances are graded and has met the toughest regulatory standards for quality and pureness.
