Description

Used to determine volatile oil in drugs by distillation of a weighed quantity of drug in contact with water. The Clevenger type receiver trap included in this apparatus is for use when the oils are lighter than water. The apparatus also includes a 300 mL round bottom flask (LG-7221) and a finger type condenser. Flask and receiver are connected by a 24/40 joint while condenser merely rests on top of the receiver. The latter piece has a tube connecting the lower part below the scale with the top of the vapor tube to return excess water to the flask. The receiver also has a discharge stopcock below the return tube.
