Description
Strontium Carbonate, Powder, Purified is a naturally occurring mineral that is a white or gray powder. It is an odorless, tasteless powder that is a w1-EAk base but it is r1-EActive with acids. It is stable and safe to work with. It is insoluble in water, and soluble in dilute acids. One of its most common uses is as a colorant in fireworks. When ignited it emits a bright red flame. It is also used in road flares, in the preparation of iridescent glass, luminous pains, strontium oxide/salts and in refining sugar and certain drugs. The Purified Grade describes chemicals of good quality where there are no official standards and is normally limited to inorganic chemicals.
