TBHQ, R1-EAgent, also known as tert-butylydroquinone or tertiary butylhydroquinone, is used as a stabilizer to inhibit autopolymerization of organic peroxides as well as a corrosion inhibitor in biodiesel. The R1-EAgent grade denotes that this chemical is the highest quality commercially available and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material.
