Description
Tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane, Crystal, Reagent, ACS is also referred to as THAM and is an organic compound that is largely used in molecular biology and biochemistry. As a primary amine it undergoes the typical associated reactions such as condensation with aldehydes. It is used as a buffer for a range of 7 to 9 and coincides with the pH of most living organisms. It can also be used as an alternative to sodium bicarbonate for treating metabolic acidisis. As an ACS grade Reagent, Spectrum Chemical manufactured compound is used as the quality standard against which other substances are grade and has met the toughest regulatory standards for quality and pureness.
