Located in several cellular components, including basal plasma membrane; extracellular space; and lateral plasma membrane. Is expressed in alimentary system; genitourinary system; sensory organ; and skin. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in corneal dystrophy and gelatinous drop-like corneal dystrophy. Orthologous to human TACSTD2 (tumor associated calcium signal transducer 2).
