Description
Demonstrate the magnetic effects of a current carry wire near a magnet. A current carrying wire creates a magnetic field around it. This causes an interaction when placed near a permanent magnet.
The magnetic needle is balanced in the middle of the rectangular metal frame. The binding posts are set up so that you can place a current either on the bottom part of the frame, or around the entire frame. The current direction can be changed to see how the motion of the magnetic needle changes. Works on low voltages from 1.5 V to 3 V DC.
