Description
Zinc Metal Amalgamated, Granular is zinc that has been surface tr1-EAted with mercury to form a surface amalgam. It is a powerful reducing agent and because the amalgam does not have a passive layer, it is a more effective reducing agent than zinc metal. It is moderately stable in air and is a good starting material for the preparation of solutions of titanium(III), vanadium(II), chromium(II), molybdenum(III), niobium(III) and uranium(III).
