Molecular Probes™ Streptavidin, Alexa Fluor™ 647 conjugate X
Alexa Fluor™ 647 streptavidin comprises a biotin-binding protein (streptavidin) covalently attached to a fluorescent label (Alexa Fluor™ dye). Streptavidin has a very high binding affinity for biotin, and a conjugate of streptavidin is commonly used together with a conjugate of biotin for specific detection of a variety of proteins, protein motifs, nucleic acids, and other molecules (for example, a biotinylated primary antibody bound to a protein target can be detected with a fluorescently labeled streptavidin). Strategies similar to this are used in many detection protocols including western blots, flow cytometry, imaging and microscopy, and microplate assays. Alexa Fluor™ dye streptavidin conjugates are supplied as 1 mg lyophilized product or in 0.5 mL volumes of a 2 mg/mL solution.
Important Features of Alexa Fluor™ 647 Streptavidin Conjugates:
• Alexa Fluor™ 647 streptavidin conjugate has Ex/Em maxima of ~ (650/668)
• Bright, photostable fluorescence
• High solubility in aqueous solutions
• Available in multiple colors
• Ideal for western blots, flow cytometry, imaging and microscopy, microplate assays and more
Properties of Alexa Fluor™ Dyes
Alexa Fluor™ dyes are organic fluorescent dyes developed for better performance in imaging and other labeling protocols and exhibit improved photostability and brightness and improved solubility in aqueous solutions. Available in a broad range of colors, these dyes are a good choice for most imaging applications.
Blocking Endogenous Biotin
Naturally occurring biotins can interfere with biotin-streptavidin detection schemes. For experiments involving fixed and permeabilized cells, try our Endogenous Biotin-Blocking Kit to minimize this interference.

Corresponding TaqMan Assay ID: Mm99999915_g1
TaqMan™ Endogenous Controls
Eliminate months of assay design, formulation, and testing by using TaqMan™ Endogenous Controls as your controls to quantify gene expression. This convenient collection of pre-designed probe and primer sets enables you to normalize the amount of sample RNA or DNA in a reaction.
Complete Solution for Quantitative Gene Expression
Having a hard time deciding what controls to use to quantify gene expression — even with detailed information on biological systems? Now, with TaqMan™ Endogenous Controls, you can avoid all the trial-and-error of selecting controls for most common human, mouse, rat, and eukaryotic genes.
Simple to Use
All components of the TaqMan™ Endogenous Controls are QC tested, formulated into a single 20X mix, and functionally tested. The controls are not only simple to use, but they are also fully compatible with universal conditions for two-step RT-PCR. Just add TaqMan™ Universal PCR Master Mix (with or without AmpErase™ UNG) and your cDNA sample to generate sensitive, reproducible, and truly quantitative gene expression data on Applied Biosystems instruments including the Applied Biosystems 7900HT, 7300, 7500 Real-Time PCR Systems, and the 7000 and 7700 Sequence Detection Systems.
Flexible Offering
We build each endogenous control using our proven 5′ nuclease chemistry. For maximum flexibility, you can choose between two different reporter dyes and two quenchers:-
- A FAM™ dye-labeled TaqMan™ MGB probe (250nM, final concentration) and two unlabeled PCR primers (900nM each)
n
-
- A VIC™ dye-labeled TaqMan™ MGB probe (250nM, final concentration) and two unlabeled PCR primers (150nM each y primer limited)
n
-
- A VIC™ dye-labeled TAMRA™ probe (250nM, final concentration) and two unlabeled PCR primers (150nM each y primer limited)
Choosing the Right Endogenous Control
Endogenous controls can normalize the expression levels of target genes by correcting differences in the amount of cDNA that is loaded into PCR reaction wells. For best results, verify that the endogenous control is consistently expressed in the sample set to be tested. Endogenous control expression must be uniform across all samples in the study. For multiplexing, ensure that the gene expression level of the endogenous control is greater than that of the target.
Multiplex vs. Singleplex PCR
All TaqMan™ Endogenous Controls that contain probes labeled with the VIC™ reporter dye are primer limited. This allows multiplexing of TaqMan™ Endogenous Controls with target gene expression assays, provided that the control gene is more abundantly expressed than the target gene. All TaqMan™ Endogenous Controls that contain probes labeled with the FAM™ reporter dye are not primer limited and are not intended for multiplexing .
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
- A VIC™ dye-labeled TAMRA™ probe (250nM, final concentration) and two unlabeled PCR primers (150nM each y primer limited)

NeutrAvidin, Protein, FITC, Invitrogen™ SKU: 31006
NeutrAvidin Protein, FITC conjugate, 31006, from Invitrogen., 31006, from Invitrogen. Species Reactivity: ; Applications: ELISA, Immunohistochemistry, In Situ Hybridization (ISH), Western Blot.
nNeutrAvidin Protein is deglycosylated native avidin from egg whites. Removal of the excess carbohydrate by an exclusive process yields a protein with a more neutral isoelectric point and less nonspecific binding properties. Purified and conjugated forms of NeutrAvidin Protein provide exceptional performance in Western blot, ELISA and IHC applications that require biotin-binding probes. Assay specificity, sensitivity, and signal-to-noise ratios with NeutrAvidin Protein are generally equivalent or better than with the significantly more expensive streptavidin. Avidin is a glycoprotein found in the egg white and tissues of birds, reptiles and amphibia. The biotin-binding protein contains four identical subunits having a combined mass of 67,000-68,000 daltons. Removing the glycosylation from avidin yields NeutrAvidin Protein with a mass of 60,000 daltons. Carbohydrate-based lectin-binding is reduced to undetectable levels, yet biotin-binding affinity is retained. NeutrAvidin Protein offers the advantages of a neutral pI to minimize nonspecific adsorption, along with lysine residues that remain available for derivatization or other customized conjugation. NeutrAvidin Protein yields the lowest nonspecific binding among the known biotin binding proteins. The specific activity for biotin-binding is approximately 14ug/mg of protein, which is near the theoretical maximum activity.

Normal Porcine Serum Control, Invitrogen™ SKU: 31890 X
Normal Porcine Serum Control, 31890, from Invitrogen., 31890, from Invitrogen. Species Reactivity: Not Applicable; Applications: Blocking Assay, Control, Immunocytochemistry, Immunofluorescence, Immunohistochemistry.
nNormal Sera are non-immune serum samples from goat, human, mouse, rabbit and other species that contain the usual complement of serum proteins, including the various classes of immunoglobulins that exist in healthy animals of the particular species. Normal serum provides a sufficient quantity of endogenous proteins to saturate and block nonspecific binding sites on fixed samples or assay substrates, making it useful for immunodetection methods, especially those involving tissue samples such as immunohistochemistry (IHC). Normal sera are also useful as controls for testing general and specific antibody purification methods. When used as an antibody diluent, non-immune serum also supplies a native chemical environment for antibodies to function properly without adding foreign protein components.
